Fall is a time of unique beauty in Minnesota. Collecting colorful leaves on fall walks and noticing the wide variety of shapes and colors is a favorite activity in many families. In this fun lesson, we will make leaves the focus of our watercolor-resist paintings. We will create a background painting of water using wavy lines and swirls painted in cool colors. We will also create a painting of many symmetrical leaf shapes which we will paint in warm colors. After cutting out the leaf shapes, we will combine the two works by gluing them to the watercolor background as if they have gently fallen and are floating on the water.
